The MaxxSouth Digital Media Center, or DMC, is a place of technology and innovation in the Mississippi State University Libraries. I was tasked with creating a visually stimulating environment in the DMC in which students could admire. The mural also serves as an advertisement for the Adobe Creative Campus program on Mississippi State University.

I used pencils, inks, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, an inkjet printer, rulers, X-ACTO knives, levels, stools, ladders, smoothing tools, and tape measures to make this project come to life.

The mural was divided into sections and printed as a series of panels that connected to form a cohesive image.

The Exhibit Space

The space consisted of a blank wall that measured around 24’ x 10,’ not including the corner side. The process of lining up the individual prints to make a cohesive, continuous image is very slow and methodical.

The mural panels were printed on repositionable adhesive vinyl paper. After printing each panel, I trimmed off the excess white of the prints. Afterwards, I brought the trimmed panels to the space, in which an assistant would help me peel and stick the panel to the wall.
